All authors interested in publishing their research work in Journal of Gastrointestinal Infections (JGI) will need to submit their manuscripts for publication through a web-based manuscript tracking system. The authors can submit new manuscript; revise their existing manuscripts, upload other required documents. They can as well track the status of their manuscripts, which are already submitted. This system helps the editorial office to communicate with the associate editors, reviewers and thus manage the peer review process. The same system is used for communication with authors. Manuscripts are received with the understanding that they contain original data that are not previously published or are being considered for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to submit the manuscript along with all concerned certificates and documents commercial rights transfer form, submission form, corresponding author form, contribution form available on the web site https://www.jgi-gisi.com/ of the journal. Authors should note that there are no processing charges for publication of an article in the Journal of Gastrointestinal Infections (JGI).
Plagiarism is the act of using another person’s words or ideas without giving credit to that person. The authors are strictly advised not to indulge in any form of plagiarism. If the content is found to be plagiarised, the Editor and the journal committee will take a serious action in the regard and the author will be responsible for the entire manuscript.
The authors hold the copyright of all the editorial content published in this journal from now. All material can be used in part and full for non-commercial output after providing appropriate attribution to the original content of the journal and a link to the licence (CC-BY-NC 4.0). It is mandatory for authors to submit the manuscript along with Commercial Rights Transfer Form.

All types of submissions / papers should follow a standard format as described in the below “Manuscript component” section.
Usually provide commentary and analysis concerning an article in the issue of the Journal in which they appear. They may include figures and tables. They are always solicited. The editorials would be limited to 1000 words with up to 10 references.
Cover topics relevant to clinical and basic studies in the areas of gastrointestinal infections. Both adult and pediatric problems are included and clinical studies relevant to the care of critically ill patients may be submitted for publication. (Maximum 3000 words excluding about 30 references and structured abstract).
Current topics which are usually those specially requested by the editorial board from persons who have done substantial work on the given subject. (Up to 4000 words excluding about 90 references and abstract).
New/interesting/ rare cases can be reported. (Up to 1000 words excluding about 10 references and abstract).
Study with clinical interest or unusual presentation of a disease can be sent. (Up to 1500 words and 10 references). Illustrations and tables, when included, should be limited to one each. It should have an abstract limited to 100 words.
Correspondence offers opinions on papers published in Journal of Gastrointestinal Infections. It should be limited in length to 300 words and should be continuous without headings. It should not include more than 5 references and one table or figure. Letters commenting on papers are sent to the authors of those papers for a response.

A covering letter which could explain why the paper should be published in the Journal of Gastrointestinal Infections. One of the authors could be identified as the corresponding author of the paper.
Manuscripts should be typed in MS-Word and Figures/Photographs in JPEG as well as word format and submitted online at www.jgi-gisi.com and by e-mail to the Editor-in-Chief at firstname.lastname@example.org. Preparation of Manuscript
Manuscripts should be presented in a concise form, typewritten in American format of English language, Times Roman Font size 12 and in double space. Names of organisms, et al, in situ, in vitro, in vivo should be typed in italics. Names of antibiotics should begin with small case, not capitals. Do not disclose identity/ institute name in the Materials and Methods or anywhere else in the Article file. Pages should be numbered consecutively and the contents arranged in the following order:
Article type: Review/Original Article, Brief Communication, Case Report, Correspondence
Title: The title of the article, which should be concise, but informative and yet sufficiently descriptive.
Running title: A short running title not exceeding 6-7 words/ 50 characters may also be provided (except for case report or correspondence).
Name(s) of the author(s), Department(s) and Institution(s) to which the work should be attributed.
Name, Address, Phone number, Fax, e-mail address of the Corresponding author.
All manuscripts should have a structured abstract (of no more than 150 words for brief reports and 250 words for original articles and other article types) with subheadings of Background and objectives, Material and Methods, Results, Interpretation and conclusions. The abstract should not be structured for a case report (100 words), review article 250 words) and brief communication (150 words). Do not include references in abstract.
The body of the manuscript must be organized into a format appropriate for the type of article using bold headings as listed in the following table:

Material and Methods
This section should carefully describe the selection of the observational or experimental subjects (human or nonhuman) and methods and materials used, including sample size and statistical approaches. Commonly used techniques or methods should be referred to appropriate references and should be described in brief. However, unique experiments, methods, technique should be described in adequate detail to allow other workers to reproduce the results.
Ethical and Humane Considerations
For studies involving living subjects, please see section, below, on Ethical and Humane Considerations and the information regarding mandatory clinical trial registration. All relevant attributes of the material forming the subject of the research should be provided. Experimental methodology should be concisely and appropriately explained. Commercially produced materials, devices, software, etc. must be followed by name of manufacturer and location. Statistical methods should be clearly specified. Manuscripts reporting human studies should include evidence that study was ethically conducted in accordance with Declaration of Helsinki*.

Please provide the name of manufacturer with its complete city and country name of all products used in research.
Patient Consent Form
Whenever the photographs/figures of a patient is used in the article, the author has to provide a signed consent form from the patient stating that the patient is permitting the author to use his figures in the article and will not have any objection to it in the future.

Bibliography should list references in order of their appearance in the text (not alphabetically) and should follow PubMed Central guidelines along with Vancouver Style. Visit the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) website http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/pmcdoc/tagging-guidelines/article/style.html and search for specific reference citations under the section “Fully-Tagged Citations”. Point 2.3 needs to be followed. All references must be cited in the text in superscript. The examples of the references have been mentioned below:

Place the number of the references at the end of the sentence as superscript to which the reference is related. Use commas to separate multiple reference numbers. For example:
"Bond strength of composite resin to dentin is influenced by the presence of a smear layer.4,5,8-15
If more than one reference is contained in a sentence, then number the reference immediately following the text that refers to the reference. For example:
“Bailey2 found that 46% showed signs of metastasis while Varner3 found only 28%.”
Illustrations should be submitted electronically in both (JPEG Format and word format), numbered consecutively in Arabic numerals. Letters, numbers and symbols should be clear in the figures and of sufficient size, so that when reduced, they could be accommodated without loss in clarity. Titles and explanation of symbols in the legends for illustrations should be typed on separate pages. Symbols, arrows or letters used in photographs should contrast with the background. If photographs of patients are used, either the subjects must not be identifiable or their pictures must be accompanied by written permission to use the photograph.
The Journal reserves the right to crop, rotate, reduce, or enlarge the photographs to an acceptable size. If a figure has been published elsewhere, acknowledge the original source and submit written permission from the copyright holder to reproduce the material. A credit line should appear in the legend for such figures.
Abbreviations should be used as an aid to the reader, rather than as a convenience for the author, and therefore their use should be limited. Only standard abbreviations should be used. Define each abbreviation and introduce it in parentheses the first time it is used. The title of the article should not contain abbreviations. The abbreviations should be used in the text, tables and illustrations without a full stop.
Statistical analysis of data is a crucial component of scientific publication. Authors who are unsure of proper statistical analysis should have their manuscripts checked by a qualified statistician.
Tables should be self-explanatory and should not duplicate textual material. Tables should be typed separately and numbered consecutively with Arabic numerals (1,2,3, etc). They should bear brief title and column headings should also be short. Units of measurement should be abbreviated and placed below the headings. Statistical tests should be clearly mentioned with exact p values. Measurement variations such as SD and SE should be numbered. Inclusion of structural formula in Tables should be avoided. Also, Tables should not be submitted as photographs.
Once all of the preparation is complete and you have all of the information and files ready for submission, please go to the Homepage and register as an author through our New Author registration. Once you are registered on the web site, you will be sent a username and password to the provided e-mail address. Using the same, you will login into the journal’s web site https://www.jgi-gisi.com/ and select Author.
After logging into author’s account, follow the steps for submission available under Manual for Manuscript Submission. Once the submission is completed, you will get a system generated ID for eg. Once the article is accepted, a confirmation mail will be sent to the corresponding author. After about 2-4 weeks post acceptance, the author(s) may write at email@example.com in order to know the issue placement. A galley proof of the article will be sent to the corresponding author for necessary changes just before the issue is to be published.
Online Proof correction
Once the galley proof of the accepted article is ready, it will be then sent to the Corresponding author. The environment is similar to MS Word: in addition to editing text, you can also comment on figures/tables and have to answer to the queries provided in the query form that will be sent along with the pdf proof. Web-based proofing provides a faster and less error-prone process by allowing you to directly type your corrections, eliminating the potential introduction of errors.
Please use this proof only for checking the typesetting, editing, completeness and correctness of the text, tables and figures. Significant changes to the article as accepted for publication will only be considered at this stage with permission from the Editor. It is important to ensure that all corrections are sent back to us in one communication. Please check carefully before replying. Proofs must be checked carefully within 48 to 72 hours of receipt, as requested in the cover letter accompanying the page proofs.
